Meet Nish

I look after a small team which supports the business by looking at different aspects of the operation ranging from land purchasing and planning through to customer services, and other supporting functions including IT, HR and finance to assess how well business risks are managed and reassure our executive team and board members that things are operating as intended.

I joined the team when it was Bovis Homes in July 2019.

Every day is a different experience, whether it’s meeting someone new in the business or out on site or learning something new about the trades or the fascinating detail that go into our homes – there’s always a good upbeat vibe around the offices and you’re made to feel welcome in whichever part of the country you’re in. People are friendly and genuinely try to help one another as, at the end of the day, we’re all striving for the same things.

I joined the team as a senior in my field and have progressed into my current role, which is all thanks to my manager who has recognised my hard work, ambition and supported my development. Being new into the industry, it’s been a sharp learning curve and I continue to learn more about our Housebuilding and Countryside Partnerships businesses whilst advising on ways to improve our operations and services so that Vistry is the best that it can be.

Outside of work, I’m a keen runner and am proud that I can do my part and fundraise for the charities that Vistry supports.

I was drawn to Vistry because it offered a new challenge to learn something new and exciting and for me to try out my skills in a new industry. Asides from the tangible perks, flexible working and opportunity for career progression, I knew it had to be Vistry as I got good feeling that the company values its people, recognises hard work and achievements and I’m glad I made the move.

Construction and more specifically housebuilding has been a booming industry backed by government policy, etc. with demand remaining high and seemed like a great sector to get involved in. Having experienced the commissioning side of the fence on affordable housing it seemed like a great idea to jump over to this side and experience the delivery side. I was sold after the first conversation with my ‘now boss’ having talked about the challenging work, the people and the great benefits the company had to offer.

The sharp learning curve I’ve been on since joining has certainly added to my knowledge of what sits behind a great looking development, from acquiring land to maintaining effective customer service and the other cross-cutting aspects including working in partnership with clients & stakeholders, regulators, etc. Though the best thing about Vistry is the passion that people have to work together to deliver a finished product, something that has definitely rubbed off onto me and will help me as my career develops.
