Working in Company Secretariat, Legal, Audit & Risk

We deliver progressive corporate governance, offer effective, high-quality advice, and ensure compliance. We keep stakeholders informed of what is happening and project manage yearly reports and accounts. We manage the Group’s share plans and are responsible for regulatory compliance of all the Group entities.

We are involved in various aspects of schemes prior to development in the planning phase, during construction, and beyond. We oversee the acquisition and disposal of sites from a property perspective and the legal aspect of the construction transactions. The team is made up of property development and construction lawyers.

We manage external solicitors in land acquisition, disposals to affordable housing and PRS providers, site set up and conveyancing. We also provide advice/support with site infrastructure agreements, leases, licences and landlord and tenant matters. We give general commercial property advice, too.

We review and negotiate building contracts and development agreements, appoint consultants, and procure letters of reliance. We review and negotiate Parent Company Guarantees and performance bonds. We assist the Commercial team with sub-contract negotiations and supply chain issues and support with client negotiations during the construction phase. Post completion, we help Commercial and Operations resolve any retention issues.

Our responsibilities are all about managing risk and doing the right thing – at all levels of the organisation. We do this on behalf of the board and shareholders. We aim to protect value and deliver insight, challenge where needed and make recommendations that promote best practice. Our tasks include everything from writing the annual report and presenting to the PLC board, group-wide reviews of critical processes, project support, whistleblowing matters and everything in between.
